Hotels have several ways to win back guests who leave without booking. Here is how Hotel Waitlist differs from each, and when the other option is the better fit.
An exit-intent popup tries to stop a guest leaving, usually with a discount or a newsletter sign-up. Hotel Waitlist lets them leave, records the dates and room they wanted, and contacts them when that room can actually be booked.
Retargeting shows ads for your hotel to past visitors as they browse other sites. Hotel Waitlist contacts guests who told you their dates, by email, when a room for those dates is available, and you only pay when they book.
Some booking engines can email a guest who starts a booking and doesn't finish. That only works when there was a booking to start. Hotel Waitlist also covers the guest who found no room for their dates, and contacts them when one opens.
Without anything in place, a guest who finds their dates sold out simply leaves. If a room comes back through a cancellation, you have no way to tell them, and they may already have booked somewhere else or through an OTA.
